Tesla Robotaxi Services: Breaking Down the 10/10 Event and What’s Next

FSD Unsupervised Launch and Tesla Robotaxi Services

So, Tesla's big 10/10 event just went down, and Matt Smith from Rebellionaire has thoughts. You know Matt—he doesn't hold back, and this time is no different. Let’s break down what caught his eye and what, well, didn’t quite hit the mark.

First up: The Cyber Cab.

Now, we all expected Tesla to bring something futuristic to the table, but the Cyber Cab? Wow. This thing looks like it’s straight out of a sci-fi flick—no steering wheel, sleek lines, and compact as all get out. Perfect for robotaxi, right? Matt loved the two-seater design, which is ideal for quick, efficient city rides. I mean, think about it, who’s calling a robotaxi to lug around four people anyway? It’s all about efficiency, and this design screams it. But also, it just looks cool. Like, imagine getting picked up by a car that looks more at home on Mars than on Main Street.

Optimus—serving drinks and looking cool, but...

Yeah, Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus, made a splash at the event. The thing was walking around, serving drinks, and interacting with the crowd like a friendly bartender at a high-tech bar. Cool, right? Well, hold up. Matt’s not entirely convinced it’s the real deal yet. He thinks it was likely being teleoperated the whole time. And honestly, if that’s true, it feels like a bit of a letdown. Like, we’re here for the AI, not a remote-controlled puppet. Still, it’s hard not to get excited about what Optimus could become.

FSD unsupervised—finally!

Now, this is the big one. Tesla announced that Full-Self Driving (FSD) will launch next year in Texas and California without human supervision. Yep, no more hands on the wheel, no driver required. Tesla robotaxi services are officially happening, and Matt’s all-in on the idea. High margins, low cost-per-mile, and no competition that can really touch it right now. But (and there’s always a “but,” isn’t there?), there’s some drama about whether Tesla’s older Hardware 3 cars will be able to handle this level of autonomy. Sure, Tesla’s putting its money on Hardware 4, but what about all those cars already out there? Are they just… obsolete now?

What was missing? Well, a lot.

For all the excitement, Matt wasn’t shy about what Tesla didn’t deliver. First off, where were the technical details? No deep dive into their AI training, nothing substantial about the improvements needed to make FSD really work without human intervention. He was hoping for numbers—like, how much better does FSD need to get? We’re talking about orders of magnitude in improvement, and we got… crickets.

And then, there’s the whole ride-share app situation. Matt’s been saying it for a while now—Tesla needs a dedicated app for this robotaxi rollout. It’s a no-brainer, right? But nope, still no announcement. And don’t even get him started on the rumored partnerships—McDonald's, Stellantis—none of that panned out either.

So, what’s next?

Here’s the thing: Matt’s still super bullish on Tesla long-term. He knows they’re going to crack the autonomy code eventually, and when they do, the stock’s going to take off like a SpaceX rocket. But right now? He’s not ready to call it just yet. It’s one of those “wait and see” situations. The potential is massive, but we’ve been burned before by hype not living up to reality.

Still, the optimism is there. Tesla’s making moves, even if the details are still fuzzy. And when they finally solve FSD, there’s no doubt Tesla will change the game entirely. But, until then? Matt’s advice is to stay cautiously excited—and maybe hold off on those grand predictions for just a little longer.

In the end, Tesla’s 10/10 event was a mixed bag. Futuristic designs, a robot serving drinks (teleoperated or not), and FSD getting one step closer to reality. But, the lack of technical meat and the missed opportunities? Those left a lot of us wondering what’s really going on behind the curtain.
