China Becomes Tesla FSD's Latest Proving Ground
China just became Tesla FSD's latest proving ground.
We pulled together a compilation of three clips posted on Douyin and X. These aren’t raw in the original sense—they’ve been translated and dubbed into English, with light editing for clarity. But the scenarios? Totally real. Pure autonomy, weaving through chaotic city streets, crawling over unpaved dirt roads, and gliding down a blind slope that would make most human drivers flinch—all set to a low-key soundtrack that somehow makes it feel even more surreal.
Clip One: Dirt Roads and Drop-Offs
In one clip, the driver nervously watches the car misinterpret a treacherous downhill turn. There are no lane lines. No clear path. Just dirt and a drop-off. The driver eventually takes over, but not before giving FSD a shot at handling it solo. It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't a disaster either. And that alone is impressive.
Clip Two: Chaos in Guangzhou Traffic
The middle clip takes us to Guangzhou traffic—a mess of scooters, jaywalkers, and unpredictability. This one's all visuals. No commentary. Just the car reacting in real time with composure that feels... human. Maybe better than human.
Clip Three: The Blind Climb
And the third? A jaw-dropper. The car faces a steep incline so sharp the cameras stop seeing road and only see sky. The driver doesn't touch the pedal. Just watches in disbelief as FSD climbs it anyway.
Why This Matters
These are real-world scenarios—not a demo lot in Palo Alto. And they're happening thousands of miles from Tesla HQ.
So what does this mean?
It means Tesla FSD is gaining confidence. Fast.
And as its confidence grows, so does ours. The path to Robotaxi might not be paved (literally), but it's starting to feel inevitable.
