Charge from 0-80% in 6 hours with a Tesla Wall Connector.

There is a lot of anxiety and misinformation around the process of charging an electric vehicle. As an exclusive BEV (battery electric vehicle) owner, I can attest to the ease of charging, not only overnight at home, but also on the road (check out my Road Rally from CA to NYC and back to CA below).

Electric Vehicles charge at different rates depending on the type of charger available. A simple charger that plugs directly into a regular home outlet takes the longest. Something like the Tesla Wall Connector (pictured to the left) charges faster and costs a bit more to install, but eases the anxiety around having enough range. You may have heard of the Tesla Supercharger Network, which is what I used on my Road Rally trip. That network charges the fastest.

The Rebellionaire Road Rally

At Rebellionaire we don't make investments based on emotion. We do our research, we check the facts. So, in March of 2024 I took to the road in a Tesla Model 3 traveling from Sacramento, CA, to NYC and back to put Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) to the test. At that time I was driving on FSD v.12.1. FSD has come a long way since that trip in March across the country, but one thing is evident: FSD is going to change how we move in the future. See how FSD can change your life by watching the playlist below.

Tesla's don't need oil to run, so that's some instant savings.

Because Tesla's use regenerative braking you never have to replace the brake pads either.

So, what are you spending money on for maintenance? Windshield wiper fluid, wiper blades, and tires.

You may be thinking, but aren't batteries expensive to replace? The answer to that is yes, but Tesla's only lose ~12% of their charging capacity after 200,000 miles of driving. They also have a comprehensive warranty on new and used cars purchased at Tesla.

What about maintenance costs?

What about the environment?

According to the Tesla 2022 Impact Report, Tesla sets itself apart from other automakers in several key environmental areas:

  1. Electric Vehicle Production Scale: Tesla has been a pioneer in the mass production of electric vehicles (EVs), significantly contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions on a global scale. In 2022 alone, Tesla's production and delivery of over 1.3 million EVs helped prevent approximately 13.4 million metric tons of CO2 emissions.

  2. Battery Recycling and Sustainability: Tesla is at the forefront of battery recycling, ensuring that used batteries are responsibly recycled and repurposed to reduce waste and demand for virgin mining materials. This closed-loop battery supply chain is more advanced compared to many traditional automakers who are still transitioning to electric models.

  3. Renewable Energy Integration: Tesla integrates renewable energy solutions into its products and operations more extensively than many competitors. Its use of solar energy technologies and the Megapack (large-scale battery storage systems) not only powers its facilities but also provides grid services which contribute to overall grid stability and increased adoption of renewable energy .

  4. Supply Chain Transparency and Ethics: Tesla has increased the transparency of its supply chain, engaging directly with over 800 suppliers to ensure responsible sourcing practices. This includes audits and greenhouse gas (GHG) hotspot analyses to mitigate environmental impacts, which is a more aggressive approach than many traditional car manufacturers.

  5. Innovation in Manufacturing Efficiency: Each new Tesla factory is designed to be more efficient than the last, incorporating advanced manufacturing technologies and AI to optimize energy use and reduce waste. For example, Tesla's factories often feature extensive solar installations and aim to achieve net-zero energy consumption.

These efforts underscore Tesla's commitment to not just advancing electric vehicle technology but also to integrating sustainability at every level of their operations, setting a high standard for environmental responsibility in the automotive industry.
